in arts

The Investment in Arts initiative is committed to providing arts activities to communities within the 0-15% multiple deprivation areas.  Our objectives are to provide a wide range of innovative performing arts activity for East Ayrshire, contribute to the regeneration of the area, and to improve quality of life and job opportunities for the people living there. The project was established two and a half years ago and its development has been very successful.

The project runs many performing arts initiatives and workshops for individuals, groups and schools, many tailored to groups’ specific needs.

A key initiative for the project is the ‘Training to Employment’ initiative which runs over four weeks (one day per week) and uses drama skills to increase motivation and improving social skills of those seeking employment.  This programme of workshops is focused on unemployed people aged 16+ and young people looking to gain employment for the first time.  The programme is a fairly contained exercise which has the potential to influence how training individuals for employment is implemented in East Ayrshire.

The programme of workshops and events designed and led by Investment in Arts, is listed under the events calendar area of the web site.

If you would like further information on any of the projects, please contact Michelle Laats, Performing Arts Development Officer on 01563 578157.
